Intended Audience
This learning programme is intended for all persons who need to motivate and build a team. This Unit Standard introduces the junior manager to the concept of motivation. This Unit Standard is intended for junior managers of organisations.

Programme Outcomes
In this learning programme, we will be covering the following learning outcomes:
Module 1: Explain the importance of motivating a team |
Module 2: Demonstrate an understanding of self and team members in a workplace |
Module 3: Apply theories of motivation and group dynamics |
· Explain the reasons why motivation is important with examples · Identify indicators of motivation, according to theory and practice |
· Identify own strengths and areas for development, based on self-reflection and feedback · Identify strengths and areas of development of team based on observation and feedback |
· Compare and contrast two theories of motivation with examples · Identify elements of group dynamics according to theory and practice · Compile an action plan to strengthen the team according to Standard Operating Procedures |
Module 4: Implement a plan of action to strengthen a team |
Module 5: Provide feedback and recognise achievements |
· Obtain commitment from the team to achieve the action plan · Execute implementation according to the action plan · Monitor the implementation of the plan and amend it accordingly |
· Observe group dynamics and reflect on it according to theory and practice · Provide feedback to each member of the team according to observation · Give recognition to team members who have contributed to the development of the team |
During the workshop the learner will complete a number of class activities that will form part of his/her formative assessment. In this the learner has the opportunity to practice and explore new skills in a safe environment. The learner should take the opportunity to gather as much information as he/she can to use during his/her workplace learning and self-study.
The workshop will be followed by summative assessment tasks to be completed through self-study in your workplace. In some cases, the learner may be required to do research and complete the tasks in his/her own time.
